Government has announced total lockdown of South Africa.

In our assessment, the lockdown will not be of short duration. Common sense and experience in other countries has shown that there will be undesirable consequences. If a large segment of the population is unable to work, people will go hungry as soon as their limited reserves are depleted.

When hunger becomes a large scale problem, society typically breaks down. Looting and other forms of crime become a natural development.

Having a mobile phone or a wallet stolen is common, when you are frequenting the city center. When the sun goes down, the danger level increases. For good reason South African society has changed their dinner times and many restaurant kitchens close at 9:00pm.
