PSIRA-REGISTERED · SOUTH AFRICA-WIDE
Elite close protection with medically trained officers and first-responder equipment on every single assignment — because security without medical readiness is incomplete.
REQUEST A CONFIDENTIAL ASSESSMENT
Executive Service VIP protection deploys PSIRA Grade E close protection officers across South Africa. Every assignment — regardless of size or duration — includes at least one medically trained team member and a full first-responder kit, enabling the team to act as the primary emergency response while awaiting EMS. Services cover executive protection, secure transport, event security, threat assessment, and 24/7 operational support.
Medical Readiness as a Core Capability — Not an Afterthought
SIGNATURE CAPABILITY
Every Assignment Includes a Trained First Responder
Most security companies treat medical preparedness as an optional add-on. At Executive Service, it is a non-negotiable standard operating procedure. Every VIP protection detail we field — from a single-officer escort to a full protection team — includes at least one medically qualified officer and the equipment to act as first responders on scene.
In South Africa, the average EMS response time in urban areas ranges from 15 to 40 minutes depending on traffic and location. In a cardiac event, traumatic injury, or acute poisoning, that window is the difference between a full recovery and permanent harm. Our close protection officers are positioned metres from the client at all times — which makes them, practically speaking, the first medical resource available.
This capability protects not only against security threats but against any life-threatening medical emergency. High-net-worth individuals, executives under chronic stress, elderly dignitaries, and clients with pre-existing conditions all benefit from having trained medical personnel embedded in their protection detail, not standing by elsewhere.
Medical Training Standard
All Executive Service protection officers are certified to at minimum Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work. Lead officers on high-value assignments hold advanced trauma qualifications including Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) and Basic Life Support (BLS) with AED certification. Relevant PSIRA Unit Standard 116534 ("Carry out basic first aid treatment in the workplace") is the regulatory floor — our officers are trained significantly beyond it.
First-Responder Equipment Deployed on Every Assignment
Equipment Category | Standard Items | Purpose |
Haemorrhage Control | CAT tourniquets, Israeli bandage, haemostatic gauze | Severe trauma, gunshot or stab wounds |
Airway Management | Nasopharyngeal airway, BVM resuscitator, pocket mask | Unconscious patient, cardiac arrest support |
Cardiac Response | Portable AED (Automated External Defibrillator) | Ventricular fibrillation, sudden cardiac arrest |
Oxygen | Portable oxygen kit with non-rebreather mask | Chest trauma, stroke, anaphylaxis, altitude |
Medication Protocols | Aspirin, epinephrine auto-injector (where authorised) | Cardiac events, anaphylactic shock |
Wound Management | Trauma dressings, occlusive chest seal, splints | Penetrating wounds, fracture stabilisation |
Monitoring | Pulse oximeter, blood pressure cuff | Ongoing patient assessment |
Equipment is inspected before each deployment and replenished after any use. Vehicles assigned to VIP details carry extended trauma kits in secure, readily accessible positions. Kit configurations are adjusted for specific threat profiles — for example, assignments in remote areas carry extended oxygen supply and longer-acting haemostatic agents.

How an Assignment is Structured
From initial contact to post-assignment review, every Executive Service VIP protection deployment follows a structured process designed to eliminate gaps before they become incidents.
- 1 Confidential Threat Assessment
We conduct a structured threat and vulnerability assessment covering your routine, public exposure, travel patterns, known adversaries, and physical environment. This determines the appropriate team size, equipment configuration, and protection posture.
2 Team Selection & Briefing
Officers are matched to the assignment by skills profile, including the required medical training level. A team leader is designated, emergency action plans are written, and all personnel are briefed on the specific risk environment before deployment begins.
3 Pre-Deployment Equipment Check
All security and first-responder equipment is inspected against assignment specification. First-responder kits are checked for completeness and expiry; firearms are inspected for safe carriage where armed deployment is authorised.
4 Active Protection
Officers maintain close proximity protection throughout the assignment window. Threat detection is continuous, not reactive. Any observed change in environment or behaviour is assessed in real time and escalated according to pre-agreed protocols.
5 Medical Incident Response Protocol
If a medical event occurs, the designated first-responder officer immediately initiates emergency care using on-hand equipment while other team members manage the security environment, clear bystanders, and coordinate EMS access to the client's location.
6 Debrief & Reporting
Every assignment concludes with a written debrief. Incidents, near-misses, and environmental observations are documented. Recommendations for improving the ongoing protection posture are included at no additional charge.
Why Medical Capability in a Protection Team Matters
The gap between security and emergency medicine has historically been a blind spot in the private protection industry. Most close protection courses cover basic first aid as a compliance requirement — but compliance is not the same as capability.
Executive Service was built around a different standard. Our conviction is that a close protection officer who cannot manage a medical emergency is only half an asset. A cardiac event, anaphylactic reaction, or traumatic injury can happen anywhere, at any time — and when it does, the ability to act in the first four minutes is the only thing that matters.
For high-value clients who carry health risk factors, this is not a theoretical concern. Stress, altitude, travel fatigue, and pre-existing cardiac conditions are common among the executive and high-net-worth individuals we protect. Our medical first-responder capability is not a selling point — it is the responsible standard of care.
For clients in remote or semi-rural areas, the gap between an incident and EMS arrival can exceed 30 minutes. In those environments, an embedded first-responder capability is not supplementary — it is the only capable medical response available.
PSIRA Compliance & Credentials
Every Executive Service close protection officer holds active PSIRA Grade E (Close Protection) registration. It is illegal under the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001 to operate as a close protection officer in South Africa without this registration — and illegal for a company to deploy unregistered officers. We hold full institutional PSIRA registration and all firearms licences required for armed deployments.
Our training pipeline exceeds the minimum PSIRA curriculum. Officers complete tactical driving, counter-surveillance, advanced first aid, and intelligence assessments before being cleared for client-facing assignments. Credentials are available for inspection on request.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do your VIP protection officers carry medical equipment on every assignment?
Yes. Medical readiness is a standard operating requirement, not an optional extra. Every assignment deploys at least one qualified first-responder officer with a full trauma kit, AED where required, and oxygen. The configuration is adjusted to the specific risk profile of the assignment.
What medical training do your close protection officers hold?
All officers are trained to a minimum of Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work. Lead officers on high-value or high-risk assignments hold advanced qualifications including Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) and Basic Life Support (BLS) with AED certification. Training records are available for inspection.
Are your close protection officers PSIRA-registered?
Yes. All Executive Service officers hold valid PSIRA Grade E (Close Protection) registration and operate in full compliance with the Private Security Industry Regulation Act. Our company is institutionally registered, and individual officer credentials can be verified through the PSIRA registry.
Can you deploy at short notice?
We maintain a readiness roster for rapid deployment. Depending on assignment location and complexity, same-day or next-day deployment is achievable for standard close protection requirements. Threat assessments for complex or extended assignments require additional lead time.
Do you provide VIP protection for events only, or ongoing retainer arrangements too?
Both. We provide single-event protection, short-term travel assignments, and long-term personal protection retainers. Pricing is structured around the threat assessment outcome, team size, and duration — not a fixed tariff. We provide a written proposal after the initial consultation.
What happens if a medical emergency occurs during an assignment?
The designated first-responder officer immediately initiates emergency care using on-hand equipment. Simultaneously, other team members secure the environment, manage bystanders, and call EMS — providing the dispatcher with accurate location information and a clinical handover summary. The client is never left without security coverage while medical care is being administered.
Do you work outside South Africa?
Yes. We support regional travel across sub-Saharan Africa. Assignments outside South Africa require additional pre-travel risk assessment and coordination with in-country partners. Contact us to discuss your specific destination and requirements.
